He later showed his tremendous interest and gave his uninterrupted support to eradicate Malaria in his state
Shri P.B. Acharya is a dynamic 87-year-old Indian politician from Udupi, in the state of Karnataka, India. He is a well-known scholar with multiple degrees. He has successfully achieved Bachelor in Arts, BA (Hons), Bachelor in Commerce, B. Com, and his Bachelor in law, L.L.B. from Mumbai University, India.
In 1991, Shri P.B. Acharya was elected a national executive member in charge of the North Eastern States namely: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland of India. He has dedicated his life to serving humanity and is being appreciated for his initiatives to uplift the cultural heritage of Nagaland.
Nagaland is one of the rare Northeastern states where Malaria is under control. With joint efforts of the government and the community, Nagaland has seen a decline in the prevalence of malaria cases. It has dropped down to 828 cases with zero deaths in 2016 from 1527 cases and three deaths in 2015. The biggest factor could have been the distribution of 9,14,000 bed nets by the Global fund through the Government of India in 2016.
Districts Wokha, Phek, and Mokokchung have recorded a decline in malaria cases. However, the Longleng district continues to have the highest prevalence rate in Nagaland, although the Annual Parasitic Incidence (API) has dropped to 1.4 compared to its previous rate of 3.05 and 3.67 in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Dr. Kevichüsa Medikhru, Joint Director, State Program Officer, NVBDCP from Nagaland has highlighted the vision of the program to eliminate malaria in Nagaland State by 2030. Neodocto aid would make it higher probability to eradicate it much earlier.
Mr. Madhukar told that he felt special after receiving a very warm traditional welcome and told that Nagaland could be one of the landmark states to lead malaria eradication in India. He also congratulated the Government and people of Nagaland for having seriously adopted changes to bring the malaria cases to a minimum. He also reassured the Governor that he would take intense initiatives to eradicate malaria before 2030, as initially planned by World Health Organization.
